The eyes are the most critical and sensitive part of our body. It is a self-responsible task to keep them safe. Especially after the monsoon season is when bacterial and viral eye infections spread like wildfire. Unlike the nose and throat, the eyes catch infection easily. With that being said, we are here to educate you on the different types of eye infections and their causes.

The good thing (so to say) about eye infections is that they are easy to recognise and spot. Being the sensitive organs of our body, eyes are highly receptive to changes in the environment and reflect if there’s any discomfort. So, if you find any discomfort in your eyes like pain, swelling, itching, or even redness, it’s most probably an infection.

One of the advantages of eye treatments is that they quickly respond to the treatment since they are highly reactive organs. So, any bacterial infection treatment will show results within 2 days or even less.

Eye infections – Conjunctivitis

It is one of the most common eye infections. You observe this when the eye’s outer layer catches any bacterial or viral elements in the air. As a result, the eyes become pink, red, or swollen.

Conjunctivitis is caused by bacteria or viruses and is highly contagious, which is again the reason for being one of the common eye infections.

Some of the symptoms of Conjunctivitis include discharge from the eye, redness in the whites of the eye, itchiness in the eye. So, if you observe any of these symptoms in your eyes, contact an eye specialist immediately.

Stye

After Conjunctivitis, this is the next most common eye infection. It is an infection that occurs to the eyelid. If we touch our eyes with unwashed hands or after touching our nose, Stye infection arises. It appears either on the eyelash line or just inside the edge of the eyelid.

Some of the symptoms of Stye include a red lump on the eyelid. Or a pimple-like occurrence or soreness on the eyelid.

With the monsoon season coming to an end, the moisture levels in the atmosphere come to a halt. And with the winds mostly being still, the air around you has a higher chance of carrying bacteria. So, keep your eyes clean by keeping your surroundings and your hands clean. Avoid touching your eyes frequently. Wash your clothes and bedsheets frequently to avoid eye infections, preferably with anti-bacterial products.

Since the infections mentioned above are pretty common, we urge you to be careful. Educate the people around you. Contact an eye specialist if you feel any discomfort in your eyes. We are always here to help, and our specialists can find a perfect solution for your eye problems.
