Paediatric Eye Care

A child’s vision is their window to the world, and early detection of eye conditions is crucial for healthy development. Paediatric Eye Care focuses on diagnosing and treating visual issues in children from infancy through adolescence. With timely care, expert guidance, and child-friendly treatments, we help little eyes see a clearer, brighter world ahead.
Symptoms
-
Childhood Cataracts
Cloudiness in the eye may be visible or cause poor vision. Early treatment is essential to avoid permanent vision loss. -
Lazy Eye (Amblyopia)
A condition where one eye is weaker than the other, leading to reduced vision. Often goes unnoticed unless checked by a specialist. -
Paediatric Refractive Errors
Conditions like nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism that cause blurry vision, frequent squinting, or difficulty reading.

Treatments
Early intervention can make a world of difference. Our specialised paediatric eye care treatments include:
-

Patching for Lazy Eye
Covering the stronger eye to stimulate and strengthen the weaker one. -
Medicated Eye Drops
Non-invasive options to treat certain refractive issues or lazy eye. -
Laser Correction (for older children)
In select cases, advanced laser options may be explored for teens. -

How Often Should Children Receive Eye Examinations?
The American Optometric Association recommends that children have eye exams after they are six months old, three years of age, and before first grade. However, if your child has a high risk of developing eye issues, they might need more frequent pediatric eye exams.
How long does a Child’s eye exam usually take?
The first eye exam will usually take 1.5 to 2 hours, as there is paperwork to complete. Future follow-up visits, if needed, will usually be much shorter.
What are the dangers of too much screen time for Kids?
There are many good reasons to limit screen time for kids, but at this point, we do not have evidence of permanent eye damage risks. However, a lot of screen time could lead to eye dryness, irritation, and eye strain.
